In the world of arboriculture, maintaining the health and vitality of your trees is a top priority. Two techniques that are sometimes needed to achieve these priorities are tree injections and tree spraying. For tree injections, we use a direct injection system to deliver the necessary liquid into the cambium layer of the tree. This system uses surgical-sized needles for minimal damage to the tree, and is much less intrusive than old methods of drilling into the wood.
Tree Injections & Tree Spraying
Our pest control and disease treatment solutions include:
- Systemic Insecticides
We have advanced systemic insecticides that effectively shield against a spectrum of harmful insects! This protects the entire tree, making it an inhospitable habitat for pests without compromising the health of the tree or its surrounding environment. In fact, some treatments go into the leaves and not the flowers, which further protects our beneficial insects. Some specific pest examples are:
- Emerald Ash Borer
The Emerald Ash Borer, or EAB, is one of the most destructive pests in the landscaping arena. Starting its destructive path in the eastern states, it has made its way to Nebraska, particularly the Omaha area. If not treated, most Ash trees will die in the coming years. - Japanese Beetle
Japanese beetles feed on over 300 species of plants, but particularly love birch, aspen, buckthorn and crabapples. They are notorious for their voracious appetites, capable of rapidly defoliating trees. Our preventive measures create an environment that deters these invasive pests, safeguarding your trees from potential devastation. - Armored Scale
Armored Scale is a nasty insect that is almost impossible to kill during the growing season. Scale insects crawl onto the limbs and leaves of trees, shrubs and perennials and “latch” on. Scale does damage to the plant by sucking sap and nutrients out of the limbs to the point where the tree or shrub can die from limb loss. The best time to spray Armored Scale is during the dormant season with a dormant horticultural oil. This oil covers the scale and suffocates it, without the use of any chemicals. With no leaves on most shrubs during the winter, a complete coverage of the limbs is much easier.
Systemic Fungicides
We understand the importance of maintaining the balance in your garden’s ecosystem. That’s why our systemic fungicides are designed to manage and prevent diseases while preserving beneficial insects and bacteria. This proactive approach fortifies trees against pathogens and promotes a healthy, disease-resistant environment.
- Rhizosphaera
Rhizosphaera is a needle cast disease that causes spruce trees (and sometimes fir trees) to shed the interior needles and continue to shed the needles until the disease is treated, or the tree dies. The interior needles start to turn light green, then yellow, and then purple. The disease normally spreads because of high humidity, moisture, and heat all at the same time. Treatment is performed by spraying a fungicide that is labeled for conifer diseases. Normally you will need to spray 2-3 times to control the fungus in the trees.
Additional tree health services we provide are
Tree Nutrient Feeding
Trees require essential nutrients for proper growth and development. Our tree nutrient-feeding services deliver a tailored blend of nutrients directly to the tree’s vascular system for optimal health and increased resistance to stressors.
Anti-Desiccant Spray for Evergreens
Winter burn occurs when leaves lose moisture faster than they can absorb it. This rapid moisture loss is particularly problematic because frozen ground prevents the plant’s roots from taking in additional water. Anti-desiccant sprays create a protective shield on the leaves to combat the drying effects of cold winds and low humidity. This allows them to retain the moisture that they need to survive.
